March 4 Apple Experience
Apple kicked off 2026 with a major event on March 4, held in New York, London, and Shanghai. The company announced the iPhone 17e, MacBook Air with M5 chip, iPad Air with M4 chip, M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models, new Studio Display and Studio Display XDR, a low-cost $599 MacBook Neo, and the $599 iPhone 17e. Later in March, Apple debuted the AirPods Max 2. These releases demonstrate Apple's commitment to refreshing its entire lineup early in the year, setting the stage for more innovations later in 2026.
Mid-2026 – WWDC
The Worldwide Developers Conference in June will preview the next major software versions: iOS 27, macOS 27, and more. New Apple Intelligence features are expected thanks to the improved Siri that will roll out ahead of WWDC. Also around mid-2026, the Mac Studio is rumored to receive M5 Max and M5 Ultra chip options, offering even faster performance for creative professionals.
September 2026
September is traditionally Apple's biggest launch month, and 2026 will be no exception. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to feature under-screen Face ID, removing the Dynamic Island in favor of a hole-punch camera cutout. It will use an A20 Pro chip built on Apple's 2nm process and could include a variable aperture Main lens. Alongside it, Apple's first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Fold, is rumored for fall 2026. It will have a 5.3-inch external display unfolding into a 7.6-inch internal display, a book-style design, and a price tag of up to $2,500. The Apple Watch Series 12 is likely a minor chip refresh, while the iPad mini 8 will adopt an OLED display and a more water-resistant design with a vibration-based speaker system. The HomePod mini 2 is reportedly ready but dependent on the new Siri. Apple is also planning a new Home Hub with a 7-inch display, offered in wall-mounted and speaker base versions. Finally, the Apple TV 4K will get a faster A17 Pro chip and Apple Intelligence support.
Late 2026
Later in the year, Apple is expected to introduce a revamped OLED MacBook Pro with 2-nanometer M6 chip technology, a hole-punch camera, and a reinforced hinge for touch-based gestures. Apple is also developing its own indoor smart home camera that will integrate with HomeKit and the planned Home Hub.
Products With Unknown Release Dates
Several products are in development but lack confirmed launch windows. The Mac mini will receive M5 and M5 Pro chip updates. A new low-cost iPad 12 will feature the A19 chip. The AirPods 5 and next-generation AirPods Pro (possibly AirPods Pro 3) are in the works with H3 chips, improved sound quality, and lower latency. The AirPods Pro may include tiny infrared cameras for in-air gestures with Vision Pro. The Apple Watch Ultra 4 is also in development. Apple is testing an M5 Max iMac, which could revive the iMac Pro with mini-LED display. Lastly, Apple is working on AI smart glasses to rival Meta's Ray-Bans, featuring cameras, speakers, sensors, and AI but no displays.
2027 Launches
Looking ahead to 2027, Apple will launch the iPhone 18 in spring as part of a split launch strategy, with the iPhone 18 Pro and foldable iPhone arriving in fall 2026. The AirPods Max may receive a lighter design and H2 chip in 2027. The iPad Pro will get an M6 chip and vapor chamber cooling. Apple is working on a 24-inch OLED iMac. The iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 (with dual cameras) are also slated for spring 2027. The 20th anniversary iPhone in September 2027 will feature a curved enclosure with no bezels and an under-display selfie camera, eliminating all cutouts. Apple's tabletop robot with a robotic arm is expected in 2027 as a more powerful Home Hub.
